AFP-Georgia Urges House to Delay Individual and Employer Mandates
“A simple matter of fairness,” says state director Virginia Galloway

Hiram, Ga. – Americans for Prosperity is urging House lawmakers to vote Yes on two bills coming to the floor tomorrow (Wednesday). The first, The Authority for Mandate Delay Act (H.R. 2667) would codify President Obama’s decision to delay the employer mandate under ObamaCare; the second, The Fairness for American Families Act (H.R. 2668) would extend the same delay to the individual mandate.

The Obama administration has shown through the employer mandate delay that the law passed in 2010 is simply unworkable; yet, so far, they haven’t granted the same reprieve to individuals.

AFP-GA State Director Virginia Galloway released the following statement before the vote:

“The Obama administration should not play politics by lending businesses a hand and leaving individuals lacking that level of political clout in the dust. This is a simple matter of fairness. If large companies are going to get a reprieve from mandates and penalties, the average Georgian certainly deserves the same treatment.

“As premiums shoot higher and the economy continues to struggle, the last thing hard-working Americans need is one more botched government program to pay for. Our newest generation of workers, who are already fighting for economic survival in the harshest job market in decades, may be hit hardest. Not only will costs be shifted to the young and healthy, but this mandate will cause young working people to postpone major purchases, yet another blow to our economic growth.

“With each passing day, it becomes clearer that ObamaCare is bad medicine for Georgia and the country. In light of this disastrous rollout, it’s only responsible to delay the key provisions of the law, and ultimately, repeal the Act entirely.
