Rep. Carter Introduces Resolution to Honor Georgia Native Justice Thomas

On Friday came the news that Georgia’s own Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas will be administering the oath of office to Vice-President Elect Mike Pence. Thomas is a favorite amongst conservatives and Pence is considered by many to have been brought in as VP by the Trump administration to shore up the conservative wing of the Republican party.

The announcement came the day after Georgia Representative Buddy Carter (R-GA 1) and Texas Representative Pete Sessions (R-TX 32), chair of the House Rules Committee, introduced House Resolution 50. HR 50 recognizes “the historical importance of Associate Justice Clarence Thomas.” Thomas’ book “My Grandfather’s Son” is a memoir of his life which details much of his childhood and teenage years growing up around Savannah, being raised by his grandparents and the values they instilled in him.
